Not only have we had a complete refurbishment, with brand new food and drink menus - we've also brought a brand new team with a wealth of experience!
Heading up The Punch Bowl team is General Manager Jonathan Kay, a True North veteran. Having worked in the industry for over 10 years, he's spent time in Leeds, Chesterfield, Barnsley and Sheffield, with the previous 4 and a half years spent managing The Crown & Anchor, a firm favourite True North establishment.
Excited for a new challenge, Jonathan and his welcoming team will be 'bringing a great choice of drinks, home cooked food and knowledge.' Jonathan said, 'The Punch Bowl is a great place to meet up with friends and family in a lively and welcoming pub. We will have great cask ales and craft beer options and a variety of cocktails! It's a fantastic atmosphere and we want everyone to come down and see for themselves.'
Joining Jonathan is Assistant Manager Hannah Ashwell-Patla, who joined True North 6 years ago as a waitress and worked her way up to Assistant Manager at their city centre sports bar Common Room before joining the Punch Bowl team.
Bringing her vast experience, Hannah thinks True North will have a great local impact; 'for the residents of Crookes and surrounding areas, the Punch Bowl is a really inviting local - I think it will become a popular spot thanks to it's homemade pies and Sunday roasts, something True North is already well known for!'
So, with the new venue opening and so much to eat, drink and see, we wanted to know what the people who know The Punch Bowl best think...
What's your favourite thing about the venue?
Jonathan: 'We've got an incredible function room opening later this month, with amazing views over Sheffield. People will be able to have their own private parties at The Punch Bowl which is really exciting.'
Hannah: 'And the beer garden - of course! I think it will prove to be very popular in summer.'
What are you recommending people to eat?
Jonathan: 'The sticky braised feather blade of beef - hearty and delicious'
Hannah: 'It's got to be the ham hock or homemade pies.'
And what are you sipping on after work?
Jonathan: 'A pint of True North Pilsner.'
Hannah: 'Probably an Espresso Martini, although I'm excited to try all of the craft beers we will be selling!'
